There are a lot of bands out there and they do a lot of things and require you to put effort into it as well. The Nike+ FuelBand requires very little effort, but then doesn't give you as much information. That said, I do really like this band for a few reasons. Read on after the break to find out.
It forces me to try and get the daily goal of activity
When you first start up the band, it will ask you to set a daily goal for the amount of Nike Fuel you want to burn. The default is 2000. For me, having a desk job makes getting to 2000 relatively difficult. By the time I'm done work and get home, I usually only have about 1300-1600 fuel burned. So this means I need to go do some sort of physical activity if I want to reach my goal.It gives me the information that I'm interested in
There are a few things that the FuelBand will show you. First, it will show you have much Fuel you've burned. I've already mentioned the merits of this above.
Second, it shows you how many calories you've burned from all the activity.
Third, it shows you how many steps you've taken. So if you want to use the number of steps a day to gauge your fitness, you can do that also.
Lastly, this one is a biggie for me, is that it shows you the time. There are a lot of bands out there that don't show you the time. I think finding out that this shows me the time was the deal maker.
iPhone app
You can sync your information with the free iPhone app. It gives you charts and all the info about your activity level. With Nike+, you can find your friends that have an account and view their activity. One thing I don't like is that Nike doesn't have an Android app for this and they don't have any plans of releasing one.
My usage
I have this on all day, everyday. I play badminton with it on. I've gone swimming with it on, though I don't think Nike suggests to wear it underwater. I've seen that it is fine with swimming. For a good badminton game that lasts 20-30 minutes, I might get about 600 Fuel.
Where you can get one
You can get it from the Apple Store or the Nike Store. They go for about $150.
